Updated and effective on November 1st 2017. TIPS and SAFETY FOR TOURGUIDE:

  1. DO WATCH the safety features of the bus you are boarding PREVOST   MCI     SETRA , and get familiar with the AUDIO-VIDEO-SPEAKER on the bus.

  2. Tourguide does learn * How to volume up and down, switch from Radio to Video to Megaphone? (TO VOID disturbing the driver while the bus is in motion)

  3. Tourguide does learn* How to adjust A/C and Temperature? (TO VOID disturbing the driver while the bus is in motion)

  4. Get familiar with how to set " Clock BE ON TIME", before unloading passengers.

  5. DO INFORM students do not board the bus, without the presence of the teacher or tour guide. Driver is not an attendant to the safety of the students, while they are boarding the bus.

  6. Any stop ON ROUTE or WASHROOM, DO COUNT as 50 seconds. per passenger (average 30minutes). Senior and special need (average 45min). Loading/Drop Off 15sec per passenger. (30sec per passenger for senior/special need passenger)

  7. DO COUNT number of passengers for each boarding time or Empty seat. 

  8. BE PREPARED TO TIP DRIVER AT end of Charter *Standard industry (2017-2018) a minimum $3 per passenger per day (suggestion: $3.50= Fair, $4= Good, $5= Excellent)

  9. RULE OF THUMB 101: If, the the number of passenger is split or below 35 passengers. Minimum tips per day is $100.

  10. RULE OF THUMB 102: Tips days are counted by date

  11. ex:

  12. a) Booked from June 15 at 21:00 to June 20 last drop off at 2:00am = 15,16,17,18,19,20 =             6 days tips

  13. b) Booked from June 15 at 3:am to June 21 as last drop off at 2:00 am = 15,16,17,18,19,20,21 =   7 days tips

  14. MEALS AND HOTEL ARE TO BE PROVIDED TO DRIVER for trip or any outbound overnight stay, overtime or unable to follow 8hrs break between on duty and next duty.

  15. LUNCH AND DINER TO BE PROVIDED TO DRIVER FOR LOCAL RUN or IN ADDITIONAL OF TIPS. (Most hospitality, restaurant, hotel does provide per courtesy to Tourguide and Driver for 20 pax and up.)

  16. WEATHER STORM AND BEYOND CONTROL OF DRIVER, BE PREPARED TO STAY OVER: ACCOMMODATION, LUNCH AND DINER ARE TO BE PROVIDED TO DRIVER AT TOUR OPERATOR EXPENSES.

  17. BUS BROKE DOWN AND BEYOND CONTROL OF DRIVER, BE PREPARED FOR DELAY: REPLACEMENT OR TIME FOR REPAIR IS AT MOTOR CARRIER EXPENSES.

  18. IT IS MANDATORY THAT DRIVER DO NOT TAKE SHARED ROOM WITH TOURGUIDE OR PASSENGERS.

  19. IT IS RECOMMENDED- DO NOT USE MORE THAN 12HRS OF DRIVER TIME IN CANADA and 10 hrs in USA from one run to another run.

  20. BE PREPARED AND PAY TO DRIVER FOR AIRPORT PERMIT FOR PICK-UP $93 (2017)

  21. BE PREPARED AND PAY TO DRIVER --- For Permit for bus ( if traveling on Niagara falls parkway $65 (2017)),

  22. BE PREPARED AND PAY TO DRIVER Gate fee entrance, Parking sightseeing,

  23. Fort George Parking Niagara on the lake $20(2017) if required.

  24. USE OF ANY TOLL EXPRESS "407", USA "Easy Pass"  DO GET PRIOR PERMISSION FROM MOTOR CARRIER BEFORE DEPARTURE.

  25. SAMPLE OF SCHEDULE SHOULD HAVE: Address, Estimated Time Departure (EDT), Estimated Time Arrival (ETA)

  1. Bus is not handicap provided, passenger should be able to walk-in and out, without any help.

  2. Tour guide must prepare rain coats, if expected rain and thunderstorms,

  3. Tour guide is responsible for heads count and number of passengers on board.

  4. Tour guide license is liable and may be fine, for causing driver to over limit time allowed by MTO.

  5. Washroom use is only for emergency during charter run. Tourguide is recommended to let passengers know ahead of time, after boarding.

  6. Foods are tolerable, soft candies only, drink must have lids and caps.

  7. Foods  are not recommended while traveling on bus, milk and dairy.

  8. Not allow Pets, Animals, Weapons, Dangerous goods, Gum, Hard candies (major cause of choking), pop drink with no caps, no smoking.

  9. Smoking is strictly prohibited by Federal law.

  10. Alcohol is not allow on board, unless prior written consent and permit are obtained from the Bus transportation company.

  11. Passengers must at all times be  seated when the bus is in motion. Tour guide is responsible to have alley clearance, no spilling on bus during the trip, that may cause by passengers.

  12. Driver is not responsible for any slept over passenger or valuable left on bus. Tour guide do have to make sure that all passengers are out of the bus when required to do so, and valuable items are not to be left on the bus.

  13. Bus route is NAFTA compliance for CANADA - USA - MEXICO.

  14. DUTY FREE Shop is only allowed, when travelers did 2 days out of Canada.

  15. Tour guide is responsible to check that all Passengers have their Passport, Visa (for foreigners) before boarding, while traveling cross border. Prepare I-94 before arriving at border. Canadians do not required Visa, but passport or enhanced driver's license is required.

  16. Canadian and US residents for cross border do expect delay average 1-2 minutes per passenger (average 25-45min). Others foreigners 4 - 5minutes per passenger (average 90-120min)

  17. VISITORS ENTERING THE USA

  18. Visitors are required to pay US$6 per person for (Fingerprints&Picture) processing for non NAFTA citizens or residents.

  19. DO NOT USE CAMERA OR TAKE PICTURE within the cross border station. IT IS PROHIBITED.

  20. PREPARE all your travel documents handy, before crossing border.

  21. DO NOT CARRY more than $10,000 in cash per person (unless to be reported at customs), No restriction for credit card.

  22. DO NOT CARRY any bag, backpack, large purse, while at inspection cross border station, but only Cash, credit card, identification and travel documents.

  23. LEAVE all luggages, backpack, and personal items on the bus for customs inspection.

  24. KEEP YOUR VOICE down while in the waiting room at cross border station.

  25. Foods are not recommended for crossing border and must be disposed outside of the bus, before crossing the border: meats, sausage, all fruits, orange, banana, apple, etc..., cuts plants, flowers, seeds. Fine can be $300 and up for unreported imported foods or be denied entrance to the USA.

  26. No children under 18 traveling with own passport or on parent's passport for cross border purpose, it is mandatory to have notarized power of attorney on consent form, from both parents.

  27. Frequent exotic travelers and children for cross border purpose, International Vaccination book is required to be up-to-date.

  28. Allergy to foods, allergens, flies and mosquitoes bites, DO PREPARE for such events, remind passenger inform you where is packed their medication is such a case.

  29. Epilepsy and diabetes dependants, tour guide should ensure that passenger do have their own emergency kit in original package and properly labeled.

  30. All drugs and medications must have their own pharmacy labels. Infants and under 4, must have their own safety seat.

  31. BE PREPARED AND PAY TO DRIVER FOR AIRPORT PERMIT FOR PICK-UP $93 (2017)

  32. BE PREPARED AND PAY TO DRIVER --- For Permit for bus ( if traveling on Niagara falls parkway $65), Gate fee entrance, Parking sightseeing, if required.

  33. DO NOT CONTACT driver for booking the bus, but rather your Tour operator or Bus transportation company (Motor carrier).

  34. DO GET APPROVAL from Tour operator or on call, if Express Tolls 407 or any Fast Tract Tolls route are to be used. Or sign on approval form upon request.

  35. DO NOT MAKE DIVERSION from itinerary (route planned) provided by Tour operator, or surcharge may applied. (Except for Stop Break). It is mandatory and MTO safety regulation, that Tour guide must obtain verbal confirmation from dispatcher for such diversion from itinerary

  36. Tour guide has free lunch or coffee at any On Route Stop, upon sign in. Stop Break is strongly recommended every 2hrs or 3hrs of driving

Beginning late-March 2017, all travelers flying into the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport will no longer be required to fill out a paper CBSA Declaration Card. The elimination of the paper CBSA Declaration Card will continue to be rolled out at other major Canadian airports across Canada, over the course of 2017-2018.
